“Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will lift you up.”

 James 4:10

Need a lift? Is your life in need of Jesus’ help right now? Today’s Scripture tells us to allow ourselves to be humble when we are in need of the Lord in our lives. But how is that possible…

Chaos often serves as major distraction from what is most important, and sets the stage for the ongoing need for reflection, serenity, and solitude in our daily lives. For it is in quieter moments, away from the hustle and mayhem, that we can truly appreciate and revere the God, Author of Life. Quieter moments when we take time to appreciate beauty of nature in sunsets, quiet snows, flower blooms, the love of another, and have the time to read Holy Scripture to regain our compass for living.

Peace & Joy in Jesus

The peace and joy of Jesus are rarely found in chaotic living, but rather, in the early rising and the retreating at the end of the day. I have found there is no quicker route to inner peace and joy-filled living than through praising Jesus with complete abandon. For me, simply repeating the name Jesus transports me to higher ground in my soul, and I am humbled to stand in the shadow of his Majestic His Light. He is The One who lifts me up!

Yes, humility and dependence on God are often scorned in our culture, as many people boldly claim to be self-made. But if you need a lift, consider this. Those who walk in simplicity, holding on to Jesus like driftwood in a rushing river stream know better. They understand that everything they are, all that they have, anything they are able to do, originates from God. They also know that with Jesus as their pilot, He will lift them up in a mighty way as they seek His help in earnest.

For no man is an island, and whether or not we recognize it, “The joy of the Lord is your strength!” Nehemiah 8:10
