Covid-19: Close Quarters

By Adele M. Gill                                                                                                 https://www.theinspirationcafeblog.net                              “Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope…”               I Peter 3:15   Close quarters. In a way, the coronavirus pandemic has drawn a line in the sand between people with optimism, and negativity and pessimism. Sure, sometimes we all have doubts, negativity, and fear. But whether we are optimistic or pessimistic is a personal choice, sometimes made hour by hour. Clearly, optimists and pessimists are considered to be polar opposites. And sometimes even optimists slide into negative thinking occasionally. However, these days, while trying to live in the same space with our families, sharing close quarters day after day, while we all shelter-in-place, can prove to be a testy challenge at best, for all involved. Meanwhile, most struggle to find reasons to hope in this seemingly impossible situation we find ourselves in.   Jesus: Full Access for All Sure, no...

Never Tried Beyond Your Strength

By Adele M. Gill                                                         “God is faithful and will not let you be tried beyond your strength;                                                       but with the trial he will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to bear it.” I Corinthians 10:13 Whenever we struggle, Jesus is cheering us on to new and greater heights, like no one else can. He is lifting us up in ways we are most often fully unaware of. He is there in the midst of it all. Though God does not necessarily cause the strife we experience, He often allows it for our personal growth. Though we may be tested to the brink of what we think we can bear, God will never try you beyond what you can handle. He will give you endurance, courage, and strength, make a way for you, and bring you peace when you seek Him with your whole heart, even for the first time. Endurance            10 “Because you have kept my message of endurance, I will keep you safe in the time of trial that is going to                                                       come to the whole world to...

Pandemic Peace

by Adele M. Gill  “Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice…                       Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:4-7   Pandemic peace?  Some days when I wake up in the morning and remind myself that the world is still in quarantine. I can hardly believe the pandemic continues to be upon us, affecting every aspect of our lives. And, like most, I think it’s been here way too long. If I let myself travel along on that path of thinking beyond a passing thought, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, isolated, fearful, alone, angry, sad, even disappointed, because it’s not over yet. When I am able to better monitor my thinking, I soon recognize that I need to have a positive attitude adjustment to start my day off right. I try to remind myself that we all get to choose the thoughts we entertain.   Like weeds in a beautiful garden, negativity and fear can take over our thoughts and control your day, if we let them. At that point, we need to weed the ‘garden of our mind,’ so to speak, lest our negative thinking overcome us, dictating what kind of day we will have.   So we have to choose between a positive attitude and optimism; negativity and fear, even and especially, in times of adversity, like now. It is a choice we have to make each and every day. Truth is, negativity drags us down, zaps our energy, disrupts relationships, and can even make us...
