Rejoice & Be Glad

“This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it!” ~ Psalm 118:24 ~ By Adele M. Gill This is the day to rejoice and be glad! Each and every day we are faced with a decision when we get up in the morning as to what kind of day we will have. If we don’t choose optimism, we can easily, mindlessly unravel as the day goes on. Then we may experience things happening that are not according to our plans. We really do get to decide if we will focus on the challenges or the benefits and blessings of each day—regardless of whatever transpires. It has been said that we all make over 2000 decisions in a single day. Some are truly minor decisions, such as whether or not we sit or stand. Stay on the diet or not. Be kind. Work hard or not so much. Go to the store or stay home. Then there are bigger decisions such as staying at or leaving a job you loathe, ending a toxic relationship, even going to Europe on vacation. But regardless of the decisions we make on any given day, we must live with the consequences of each and every one, though some are far more weighted than others. Silver Lining in Every Circumstances Deciding to put a positive spin on, or looking for, a silver lining in every circumstance relieves stress. Even and especially the stress of enduring our own imperfections and those of others. This perspective may initially take some self-discipline, but it is well worth it. When we are...

Gifts of God Are Irrevocable

“For the gifts and the call of God are irrevocable.”                        Romans 11:29 The gifts of God are irrevocable; that is, He does not take them back. When God gives you a gift, he does so freely through His unconditional Love, and divine grace. When He does that, He enables you to use that gift for good. As with Moses who had a speech impairment, Mary Magdalene who Jesus healed of 7 demons, and David who was an adulterous wanderer before becoming a strong leader and king, God used and often uses flawed, struggling people to accomplish His greatest work. ‘Truth is, He can and will use absolutely anyone, believers and non-believers alike, to lead souls to Jesus Christ, and hence to Heaven’s gate. God Waits fro Us With patience and persistence, God waits for each of us to recognize the gifts He bestows upon us, embrace them, and share them with others. All the while equipping us to use His gifts to enrich our lives and help others using those gifts. God’s precious gifts, such as the gift of faith, help us to clean up our lives, to forge ahead, and seek Him, and His Son Jesus, with great fervor, and all our being. God’s blessings and gifts are most often given for the benefit of building up His Kingdom, and are irrevocable—That is, they cannot be taken away. Even if through our free will, we choose not to use the gifts God sends, He still does not remove them. However, they may sit dormant waiting for...

Never Underestimate God

By Adele M. Gill  “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,”  declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 29:12-14 Never underestimate God! About 2 years ago, I got shingles on my face, just above my right eye. I was sent to the local hospital ER by my doctor, in hopes that it was something minor, perhaps just a rash on my face. By the time I got there, my right eye had fully swollen shut. It was quite uncomfortable, and after waiting hours in the ER waiting room, they admitted me for round-the-clock IV antibiotic and antiviral treatments. Waiting It Out I was there in the hospital for 3 days getting constant IV therapy, and by the third day, my right eye had been closed for 4 days, and my left eye was also almost closed completely shut from the infection. However, before they discharged me home with oral antibiotics with a sort of ‘wait and see’ approach, the doctor came in to my room. What he said next was extremely upsetting and unexpected. He told me the shingles had caused the spread of cellulitis to both eye’s eyelids, and that I could easily lose my eye sight altogether in both eyes. I just needed to wait it out. He said it was going to be a long road to healing, and he really hoped I did not lose my sight completely from it, but time would tell… God: You Can Do This!...
