Part II: Mayhem Never Wins

By Adele M. Gill “Scoffers enflame the city, but the wise calm the fury.” Proverbs 29:8 In these times of turbulence, chaos, and seemingly widespread unrest across the U.S., some days it may seem that our country is spinning out of control, and be beyond repair, and we will never resume normalcy and peace in this country again. Such unbridled mayhem may easily stoke the flames of fear and anxiety within us, leaving us feeling helpless, baffled as to ‘what to do’ and how to make sense of it all. I believe that the vast majority of Americans condemn anarchy, and that we all need to pray together for it to end swiftly. As is always the case, such destructive evil is only temporary… As God will not allow it to go on indefinitely and without consequences.   The Destruction of Anarchy Anarchy is clearly not a form of mental illness, nor is it warranted or right–ever. Rather, it is an evil that if left unchecked, will destroy, maim, and kill innocent people.  It threatens us all. Such violence can be very destructive on so many levels, far beyond the obvious—even to our sense of well-being. It is unsettling to watch anarchical violence on TV or our Face Book news feeds, as it leaves us feeling unsettled, fearful, and yearning for peaceful times. Often originating in  urban areas, as destruction and unnecessary violence ensues, it can spread to the suburbs, as well. The idea of defunding the police, especially at a time such as this, because of a few bad actors, defies logic. Though police reforms are much needed, we look...

God Is Our Help In Every Situation

By Adele M. Gill                                         “ All who call upon me I will answer, I will be with them in distress;                                                                                     I will deliver them and give them honor. With length of days I will satisfy them                                            and show them my saving power.”     Psalm 91:14-16 In this scripture today, we have great promises from God. What else could we want than to call upon Him, and have Him answer our prayers? In times of distress, He is clearly available to all of us in both good times, and in challenging times. We need to take this scripture very personally, as an invitation to prayer.  Ask Jesus for whatever you need, and He will help you when you need it the most. He is there for you when you are weary and your spirits are sagging at the end of a chaotic day. He stands in wait for you to pray to Him through infirmity, disability, and in times of grief. He beckons you to come close when your heart is broken from your child who is suffering from drug and alcohol addiction. He provides food and shelter...

Mayhem Never Wins

By Adele M. Gill   “God is faithful and will not let you be tried beyond your strength; but with the trial he will also provide a way out, so that you may be able to bear it.” I Corinthians 10:13   Are you feeling tested beyond your strength as you endure the Covid-19 pandemic and isolation, and are also feelings of helplessness as you witness unbridled anarchists who are destroying our US cities? If so, you are not alone! Though it’s difficult, we need to try to trust that God is present to each of us, He has a purpose in allowing all this, and that He is in control…but how is that possible?  Why would He ever allow such mayhem and disruption to exist in our lives??? Distressing as these times are, surely God has a purpose for allowing times like these to happen. Could it be that He is trying to get the attention of a country, a world that has tried to systematically eliminate Him from every aspect of our daily lives? One need only watch our legislators closely to know the evil that pervades our culture today from the top down: Total, legislated disregard for human life; assaults on free speech and religious freedom; derelict, murderous organizations benefiting from our hard-earned tax dollars; congressman calling to dismantle our country on every level; tyrannical rule of violent anarchists in our streets making extortion demands, and too often getting what they demand; cancel culture trying to rewrite the history of our country so we cannot remember and learn from our mistakes, dooming us to repeated failings. Conflicting reports about...

7 Ways to Evict Negativity

7 Ways to Evict Negativity Adele M. Gill Today’s post based on my new book, ‘How to Go from Blest,’ page 23                                                                             “…Take captive every thought...”                                                                             2 Corinthians 10:5 It is very important to think before we speak, and check one’s mind and thoughts often. Before speaking, we need to ask ourselves: Is it true, is it kind, is it necessary;  does it build others up or tear them down? Does what I have to say promote faith, or fear and anxiety, in myself and others? Perhaps if you are experiencing a lot of negative thinking in your life, it’s time to evict negative thoughts. But how? Here are some practical ways to decrease negativity: Say aloud: “Today I choose faith over fear. Repeat 3 times: “Fear and worry, you have no place in my heart and mind. You have been evicted–be gone in the name of Jesus Christ!” Take a deep breath and say aloud, “Jesus I trust in you.” It is virtually impossible to experience fear when you trust that God is in control. In fact, trust in Him will bring you great joy! Get moving! Exercise, take a walk or a...
