Hoping Your Plans Will Succeed?
Hoping your plans will succeed? Every plan needs goals, and a firm foundation to grow on, to build on. Sure, you can go about doing all the planning and implementation and hope for the best outcome. The world tells us that hard work is all that is needed to succeed in this life. True, hard work is necessary for anything we embark on to succeed. But that is just part of the story.
A Team Approach
Certainly, we also need to depend on funding and finding the materials and resources to do the job. Often times our plans include other people, as well, so you will want to identify and surround yourself with honest, skilled people to help. Depending on the job at hand, many plans include building a team approach to tackle and implement all the details that you have laid out for the goals you have set. You’ll likely try to find the brightest minds, those with the highest skills, and backers with the appropriate financial assets. With all that in place, the stage is set for success as you stand at the helm of every project or job that comes along. There is nothing else you could possibly need…Or is there?
Learning to Depend on God
The above scripture from Proverbs 16:3 tells us simply to, “Entrust your works to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” It does not say we have all the answers and everything we need to go it alone. Rather, it infers dependence and deference to God. You may be wondering how that makes any logical sense, or why or how that could possibly help you in your endeavor. In a way, putting aside logic may seem counter-intuitive. But faith is not a logical entity. Truth is, most of the time, many of us choose to ‘go it alone.’ Yet, there is much that God can and will do for the asking to help us succeed. Here are just a few practical ways that God’s intervention can help us in whatever effort we engage in:
- He will be with you through it all, giving you the sense that you are not alone, thereby boosting your confidence.
- He will protect you from harm, including the wrath of any enemies you may have, fear, and even failure itself.
- He will guide you, enabling you to grow in discernment according to His divine will for your own well-being.
- He will answer you, keep you on track, and provide for your every need.
- He will be your strength when you are overwhelmed, weary, or feeling downtrodden, and reinvigorating you so you can stay focused and see your plans through to completion.
- He will help you keep your cool if and when things don’t go quite as planned.
- Most of all, He will love and accept you unconditionally, regardless of the outcome of your effort, just the way you are, like nobody you know could ever love you.
Practical Benefits
Yes, there are many practical benefits to bringing God into your life plans before you embark on your project, your work, your issue, your journey. Perhaps we should dedicate each work we engage in to God, before forging ahead, even in the time of early planning. Having God on board is vital to success. No, it does not promise that the effort will be devoid of setbacks, conflicts, or failures. But it does ensure the absolute best outcome when God is at the helm.
Succeeding with God at the Helm
So go on…Why not invite God into the early planning for the work you have initiated? Whether it is a new job, a new business venture, a new approach to a personal or medical issue, writing a book, or whatever you plan to do, try placing God at the helm, the center, and see what amazing things transpire for the good! Allow yourself to be pleasantly surprised by our God of Surprises and expect miracles—and lots of them. Miracles great and small happen every day in every aspect of life, but we too often don’t recognize them as such as we are too busy, distracted, or just unaware. Try placing all your fears and anxiety on Him and watch how you grow in peace. For when you let it settle into your heart and mind and believe that you do, indeed, serve a mighty God, you are free to succeed in ways you may have never envisioned or thought possible!
