Remedy For This Crazy World

By Adele M. Gill   |   Silver Lining Ministries Remedy for this crazy world… I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to grow a little weary, and less and less dismayed by what is transpiring daily in this country—numb, even. Perhaps I am finally coming to realize that it is a “God-job” to fix our country. Perhaps we need to remember that the battle we are fighting has already been won by Jesus on the cross. As promised, He is providing for our every need, gently leading those who believe in Him and eternal life. In essence, we are just sojourners passing through this life…. “If, then, you heed all that I command you, walking in my ways, and do what is right in my eyes by keeping my statutes and my commandments…I will be with you.” 1 Kings 11:38 God Loves All People Equally The Bible tells us that God, Our Creator, loves all people—all of humanity—equally. But that is just part of the story. Though His love for us all is eternal, scripture also reveals to us that God’s favor rests upon those who revere Him and keep His statutes. He is with His believers as they strive who seek Him, live good lives, serve Him through others, and give Him the glory. However, those who choose not to seek Him are certainly entitled to that choice, too; but they should know they are on their own… [Jesus said:] “A new command I give you: Love one another, as I have loved you…” John 13:34 So what is the remedy for this crazy world we live in? There are two: 1) Praying for sound, Godly discernment, peace,...

Election Discernment 2020

By Adele M. Gill 14 “If then my people, upon whom my name has been pronounced, humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their evil ways, I will hear them from heaven and pardon their sins and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 New American Bible (Revised Edition)   Today is Voting Day—an extremely important election that will decide the direction of our country for years, even generations, to come. I am not here to tell you who to vote for. This is America, and voting is a very personal decision. However, after much praying for discernment during, I have decided to vote for what is most important to me: My faith.   This is an election like no other in our history, as our freedoms hang in the balance. The first amendment, which is very much about freedom of speech, and especially religious freedom, is front and center on the chopping block, due to the emergence of dominant, far-left leaning ideologies. Choosing our country’s leadership can be daunting, especially in these times of distorted media, but we must make a life-giving choice for the future of this country.   This election is far more than choosing who we like the best. There is too much at stake to treat this election like a high school popularity test by choosing the candidate we like best based on their personality. For me, it is about the preservation of what is good and right and true. Yes, both candidates are clearly serious flawed individuals. One is actually likeable, the other perhaps not so much. If you really want...

Extreme Abortion Laws: Celebrating Infanticide?

63 Million Babies Killed Since the passage of Roe vs Wade legalized abortion on demand in 1973, 63+ million babies have been aborted in the US alone. Certainly anyone can understand that unintended pregnancy is a daunting, life-changing experience. But the killing of 63+ million babies on demand by the abortion industry? Indefensible. It is the equivalent of the killing of a whole generation. Almost as many as died in WW II. This statistic speaks volumes about the lucrative abortion industry as a whole, one that takes advantage of vulnerable women and ends the life of precious babies: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart…”  Jeremiah 1:5 Abortion Up Until Birth New York recently passed a bill, the Reproductive Health Care Act, legalizing abortion of babies up until birth. Abortions there can now be performed without a physician present, or regulations in place to ensure the mother’s safety. This legislation reverses many of the precautions and protections for the mothers. It promotes abortion on demand for virtually any reason, and most importantly, mortally endangers viable baby’s lives through infanticide. The passage of this new law in NY, more than a few other states are planning to follow suit in a sort of domino effect including OR, RI, NM, VT, VA, and CA, among others.   Upon passage of this new extreme abortion law  in NY, there was great jubilation, revelry, and celebration in the legislature, and the streets across the US. Surreal as it was to witness via mainstream and social media, prominent buildings in NYC were lit...

Perilous US Legislation: Still a Civilized Nation?

In light of new US infanticide laws enacted, one must ask: Is the US still a civilized nation? To the shock and dismay of people all over the world, extreme abortion, a form of infanticide, the killing of a viable baby, even at birth, is now legal in NY as of January 22nd, 2019. This new legislation, the Reproductive Healthcare Protection Act is perilous legislation, and a scourge to this country and humanity. Infanticide: Far Beyond Politics There is contagion with this heinous legislation, as other states are working to follow suit including VA, RI, VT, NM, OR, and CA. Infanticide is only allowed in a handful of countries around the world, including two communist countries: North Korea and China. Infanticide also opens the door wide for other life and death issues most notably, assisted suicide, thereby further threatening the Culture of Life. Though it is noteworthy that progressives and Democrats voted for infanticide, this issue is far beyond politics. Rather, it is about the life and death of defenseless babies, something that endangers the very soul of this country. The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act Similarly, more recently, on February 25th, 2019, the U.S. Senate voted down the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection bill, represented by Sen. Ben Sasse and backed by 48 other conservative legislators. The bill was defeated along party lines 53-44, as 60 votes were needed for it to pass, but it came up just 7 votes short. The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act would have protected babies from being killed after a botched extreme abortion in the second or third trimester of pregnancy. Though not...
