Embrace your new life. Could it be that it’s time to be done with your old mistakes and regrets, embracing your new life? If you have ‘done a lot of living,’ are tired of the life you are living, or just looking for a change and a new path to walk in this chaotic, turbulent world, this one’s for you. Today’s blog is about how to recognize, step into, embrace, and live your new life that awaits you.

“So whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come…”

2 Corinthians 5:17

Certainly we all have made mistakes in our lives. Truth is, some of us have made more mistakes than others, with some seriously affecting our personal lives, and those of others. Some scenarios include not being loving towards our family, friends and others; engaging in libelous gossip, selfishness, greed, pride, taking advantage of other people; living beyond our means, being argumentative, needing to be right all the time, having to have the last word; lying, stealing, cheating on one’s spouse; gluttony, drinking excessively, abusing drugs, or occasions of promiscuity, to name a few. All forgivable by God for the asking!

“Behold, I make all things new.”

Rev. 21:4-6

Certainly some mistakes we make can cause more harm, and disarray in our lives than others. They can cause one to try their relationships with family or friends to the brink, thereby forfeiting some important relationships. These ‘mistakes’ may be just one random misstep, a combination, or in rare cases, all of the above. When we engage in some of the above words and deeds, we often pay a price. Many of these actions present a challenge to our ability to love others fully, and may also cause others to find us untrustworthy, with social isolation, and subsequent loneliness as the end result. Depending on what the mistake is, some people pay an even steeper price, as is the case when some of our actions cross the line, and are illegal, and incarceration may be the result. However, being estranged from God is the greatest price of all to pay, as He is our Creator, Redeemer, and Savior; our strength and our shield in times of trouble.

“The Lord is my strength & my shield; my heart trusts in Him & He helps me.”

Psalm 28:7

But there is some really good news for us all, regardless of our past mistakes. Whatever you have done, whatever it is that has held you back in this life can be erased like a slate by God in an instant. And Jesus, His Only Son, always stands ready to hear and answer our sincere, prayerful pleas, and will help us—even to change and remove our regrets. But we need to reconcile with God, and ask Him to do so first. Oftentimes people come to Jesus when all seems lost, and they are at their lowest point, depressed, hopeless, and despairing with nowhere else to turn. They may have lost all of the people who were previously important to them in their life, be physically sick, having mental health issues from the stress, or living with addiction. Yes-many people have an awakening in times of serious trouble. But God encourages us all via scripture to “return to Him with all your heart, don’t let sin keep us apart.” The ball is in your court. How else could some possibly find God? God does not care why we turn to Him—just that we do.

When you seek God with a repentant heart, it is sort of like making things right with an old friend you have been estranged from for some time. It is necessary before you can possibly move on with that relationship. If you have offended or hurt that person, they need to know you want to make amends, and have them back in your life again. And so it goes with God, but on a much, much greater scale.

The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 29:11-13, “When you seek God with all your heart, you will find Him, and He will change your lot!” He will give you his full attention and help you in whatever way you need help. For when you turn to God, even for the first time ever, you become a new creation, with a new life, if you seek him with all of your heart. If you have not done so yet, you have so much to gain by discovering your new life that awaits you in Jesus, thereby becoming a new creation is Him. Perhaps it’s time to clear the slate and start anew…

“…If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved…” Romans 10:9
