“The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful…”

James 5:16

What is a 2-Second Prayer? How do we pray, and what do we say when we pray??? First, we need to pray to God, Our Creator, and invite Him in to every situation. We need to believe and trust that He’s in charge. We need to pray, and worship God in gratitude, as we ask for whatever we need in the name of Jesus Christ. Sometimes, we come to God seeking forgiveness for our sins. Other times, we pray and ask for things like healing, protection, guidance, and/or inner peace. Or we just need to vent. And that’s OK. Whatever it is we pray for, or do, it’s important that we understand that all power and glory belong to God, rather than ourselves. Actually, praying the prayer Jesus gave us Himself in the New Testament really says it all:

The Lord’s Prayer

Mathew 6:8-13:

“Your Father knows what you need before you ask him…This is how you are to pray:

Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and do not subject us to the final test, but deliver us from the evil one.”

When we walk with the Holy Spirit, and pray for others, we are akin to seed planters, planting seeds of faith. Nothing more, nothing less. Our job is simply to pray fervently, plant seeds of faith and hope in word and deed, provide encouragement and share God’s Love with others. The Holy Spirit will do the rest.

God Will Use You

God will use you if you confess your sins, humble yourself, and become a willing vessel! He can, and does, use absolutely anyone and everyone to accomplish His Divine Will–Even those who do not know him or seek His face. Yes—God uses every situation, each person, to accomplish His Divine Will. All glory and honor belong to Him alone! We should never ever try to take credit for God’s answers to our prayers—the work He does in our lives and those of those we pray for…

When we pray–even 2-second prayers–and strive to serve God, we must first reconcile our failings and our sins with Him, put our ego, ourselves aside, and humble ourselves to pave the way for Him to do His finest work through us. For it’s not about us at all, but really all about God, and it is pure privilege to be able to communicate with Him through prayer.

Keep It Up

So let’s strive to keep the lines of communication open with God through prayer. As I have said before, prayer changes things for the better. If you already pray, keep it up. If you want to pray, but are unsure as to how to do so, consider saying a 2-Second Prayer or more importantly, The Lord’s Prayer.  There is really nothing any of us can do on our own, outside of God’s loving watch and reach.

If you pray and help someone come to Jesus, and they do, it’s because He called them first. If you are able to help someone who is struggling with their faith, agnostic or atheist, it is God’s intercession that will bring them back. God is the One who, through the power of the Holy Spirit, gives the gift of faith. He is the One who heals comforts, guides, protects and provides for all who seek Him. We are simply conduits, servants and witnesses to God’s holy Love. He does it all!

When we pray and see that broken relationship that we prayed for is repaired, the medical issue that we prayed for is healed, the job that we got after praying fervently for it…For the faithful will see the hand of God’s finest work at play. At that point, we need to go back and offer prayers of gratitude to God. For a grateful heart is a joyful heart. Prayers of gratitude to God naturally bring about joy in one’s heart.

“…Whoever brings back a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.”            James 5:20

At the End of the Day

At the end of the day, it’s really all about God—for nothing is impossible with God! We simply need to pray 2-second prayers or whatever we are comfortable with, and ask for whatever we and our loved ones need. We need to share our experiences & feelings with Him, witness in gratitude to His goodness, and especially serve Him through others. For we are simply his hands, feet and voice here on earth, and through prayer God makes it all possible.

“Everything is possible to one who has faith.”

Mark 9:23

Even that can be a 2-second prayer!
