“Commit your way to the Lord, trust that he will act…Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.”                     Psalm 37:5-7

I have a friend whose son and his wife are in the throws of a serious medical challenge. He was just diagnosed yesterday with an aggressive melanoma, just days before the birth of their 2nd baby. Yes, life is chock-full of surprises, some of them very difficult, but consider today’s Scripture…

In our humanness, it is very easy to become swept away by life’s difficulties and challenges, even to the point of despair. When life gets hard, it is easy to forget that God is in control. Yet the Bible tells us to pray, then wait and trust that God will act on our behalf in His own special time and way. For there is no need to take back what we have given to God to work out for good.

Some think God is far away and quite removed from our daily happenings, yet God tells us again and again through Scripture…“Be Not Afraid, I am with You!”

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

In fact, through the power of the Holy Spirit, God has sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to reside with us in both joyous times and in difficult times. The Great Healer, Protector, Comforter, Protector, and Savior, He is not in the distance, but actually with all who call upon His holy name in earnest. Our job is to pray and recognize His unmatched power and presence, and to wait for Him to intercede.

Having prayed fervently with my friends, I am eager to see what the Lord will do next on their behalf!

Commit your way to the Lord, trust that he will act…Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him.”              Psalm 37:5-7
