“Commit your way to the Lord; Trust in him and he will act…”

Psalm 37:5

Trusting God and committing our way to Him is no small feat. It is a big deal, and easier said than done. Trusting in God requires some level of understanding and familiarity. Committing our way to God involves admitting our need for Him, His help, and holy intercession. It includes humbly putting our pride and ego aside to ask Him to intervene and do what we cannot. Clearly, there are many things in life we can do, but sometimes things that happen in life are beyond our control. But not so with God Our Creator, Lord, and Savior.

Whenever we ask someone to do something for us, there are always five possibilities for their response. They will either say “Yes” “No” “Maybe” “Not yet” or we will receive silence–no answer at all. Truly, the latter is the toughest to digest, as sometimes people will not respond at all when their answer is “No” so as to not disappoint. But it’s different with God, His silence in response to our prayers, or lack of response to our prayerful requests, may be anything but. It may just simply mean He is “working all things for good for those who love Him…” Romans 8:28 in His own special time and way.

When we commit our way to Jesus, God’s Only Son, He will intercede on our behalf. Committing ones way to Him is about recognizing God’s love, dedication and trustworthiness. It also often includes humbly asking for forgiveness for our failings and sins to ‘make things right’ with Him before we ask for whatever we need. God is kind and merciful ever ready to forgive and heal as He deems fit, those who ask that of Him. Once we pray and make our requests known to God, we must do our part—whatever is humanly possible, then step back and let Him fight our battles for us. We need to step aside so as not to interfere with His work on our behalf.

God will provide abundantly for your every need, and bring His Love and guiding Light into every circumstance. He will fight your battles with you and even for you, and bring peace, comfort, guidance, wisdom, knowledge and healing of various kinds—whatever is needed– into every situation. He will even change hearts and foil the plans of our enemies.

For scripture tells us:

“My deliverance and honor are with God, my strong rock; my refuge is with God.”

Psalm 62:8

“For you, Lord, bless the just one; you surround him with favor like a shield.”

Psalm 5:13

“Lord, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, My God, my rock of refuge, my shield, my saving horn, my stronghold!”

Psalm 18:3

“God’s way is unerring; the Lord’s promise is refined;  he is a shield for all who take refuge in him.”

Psalm 18:31

“The Lord is my strength and my shield, in whom my heart trusts. I am helped, so my heart rejoices; with my song I praise him.”

Psalm 28:7

“With my own voice I will call out to the Lord, and he will answer me from his holy mountain.”

Psalm 3:5

These Bible passages provide clarity for anyone who wonders if it is important to trust Jesus, and commit your way, your challenges, your life to Him. When you look at Him as your Rock, your Fortress, your Shield, it is seemingly impossible not to turn to God in your times of challenge and adversity. When you do, it becomes only natural to do so in good times, as well.
