Political Correctness, Disputes & Truth

By Adele M. Gill   |   Silver Lining Ministries   “Hatred stirs up disputes, but love covers all offenses.”  Proverbs 10:12 Recently, some of my readers have been asking why I have been incorporating current events into this “God-blog.’ My answer is this: I pray and write whatever God sends me to write. Many have shared their concerns with me about unsettling disputes/arguments they have had that arise from differences in political opinions. Like them, I have certainly had my share of similar uncomfortable challenges, especially lately. Though we as Christians are living in this world, we are set apart–not of this world, as we strive to follow God’s way. And as believing Christians, we are called at times to share the biblical world view that we have learned from scripture, rather than the worldly view, with others. It’s just that simple. Personally, I have found that some topics that I consider non-political, may not be seen that way by others. To talk about them is politically incorrect.  Additionally, everyone has their own idea of what is ok to talk about; and what is right and wrong. The biblical world view is very different than the worldly view. Some say one should never mix religion and politics. But in my mind, that approach to life begs this question for Judeo-Christians believers: How can we, as believers, share biblical truths, if we refuse to engage in, or even avoid altogether,  hard conversations, and people who don’t think like we do? As believing, practicing Christians, each of us has a ministry of one as Ambassadors for Christ, striving to bring love, peace and...

The Truth Famine: Censorship & Truth

By Adele M. Gill   |   Silver Lining Ministries <<< Click on blog title to show full article >>> [Thus says the Lord] “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 As I posted recently, it appears that Facebook has given me a ‘Policy violation,’ a warning for the content in my “God-blog,” the Inspiration Café. This warning is the precursor to being fully blocked on Facebook. The policy violation was for the last blog I posted on January 5th: “The Law of the Land.” Despite significant efforts to do so, I have yet to be able to reach Facebook to ask why this occurred, as they are seemingly inaccessible by phone or email. But this much I do know…God will always make a way for good, and truth, will prevail… Though these emails will continue, in the event this blog becomes fully blocked, beyond this Facebook warning, I am also posting it on my WordPress website, https://www.theinspirationcafeblog.net/blog/, Amazon Author Central, Xapit, and MeWe.  For the scriptural Word of God cannot be silenced. I will not be intimidated, nor will I stop sharing God’s Love via practical, timely scriptures, any way and anywhere I can because: All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness…”  2 Timothy 3:16 God’s Love is all encompassing. He will always make a way for those who love Him and strive to serve Him, with all their being. His unmatched, unconditional Love for all of humanity knows no bounds. As we press on, it is important...

Jesus: Year-Round Light of the World

By Adele M. Gill “The people who walk in darkness will see a great Light; those who live in a dark land, the Light will shine on them.” Isaiah 9:2 [NAB] This week, some of us had the extraordinary opportunity to see the northern star that appeared when Jupiter and Saturn came into alignment. Reportedly, it appeared as a bright light in the sky, reminiscent of when it was seen, according to scripture, some 2000 years ago by the wise men. They followed the bright star to blaze the trail to the baby Jesus, the Messiah, laying in the lowly manger. It is not surprising that God used a bright star—a metaphor for Jesus, Our Lord and Savior, to blaze the way for them on their journey:   God is Light; in Him there is no darkness at all.”  I John 1:5   Light in Darkness It is noteworthy that in the Holy Bible, there are 263 references to light. Actually, light was created by God, as documented in the very beginning of the first book of the Holy Bible in The Book of Genesis:                           “And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good,                                               and he separated the light from the darkness.”                                                                     ...

God Is in Control–Really?

By Adele M. Gill [Jesus Said] “I am not alone, because the Father is with me. I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.” John 16:32-33 God is in control–Really? Watching the news these days, it appears that the world as we know it is spinning out of control with no adults in charge. Sometimes it seems as surreal as a bad movie. Current events in the world, the news can leave us fearful, anxious and worried about our future leadership, and the unsettled and unsettling state of our country. With conflicting unprecedented news reports of voting fraud, talk of insurrection, pandemic lockdowns, economic recession/depression, possible treason; spying, cold wars, soldier, wars; censorship, the opioid crisis…And the list goes on and on… Violence in our streets, and lawlessness are far too pervasive and prevalent. Some days it seems that there is disharmony, discord, unrest, and chaos everywhere. How can anyone possibly be in a state of peace with so much turmoil going on in our country and the world? Well I’m here to tell you it is possible… It is no mistake that “Be Not Afraid” is written in the Bible over 300 times, giving us hope. In our humanness we may feel we have reason to be afraid. But when you believe that God is in control, and seek His help, all fear dissipates and calm and inner peace are restored. Sometimes it is hard to believe that God really is in control. But He is–silently working all...

Step III: RECOGNIZING YOUR GREATEST RESOURCE

By Adele M. Gill Adapted from ‘How to Go from Broken to Blest’ by Adele M. Gill ___________________________________________ “Ah! Those who call evil good, and good evil, who change darkness to light, and light into darkness…“ –Isaiah 5:20 __________________________________________________________ Life is not always fair, and truth can be an elusive butterfly whenever evil prevails. However, regardless of your circumstances, when you truly believe that “All things work for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” [Romans 8:28], you can relax knowing everything will workout for the good. God’s in control—He’s got this! God will make a way for you–for good–for the asking, because He loves you unconditionally, even bringing Truth and Light into and through evil times of confusion, chaos, and darkness.   Where Does Your Help Come From? Through life’s storms, we can often feel lost, disappointed, afraid, and/or defeated. We sometimes hit the proverbial wall, and wonder how much more we can take before we reach the breaking point. But what we really need to do is realize that with Jesus, hope is ever present, even if it’s not something we can see or feel in the here and now. Hope in Jesus can enable us to thrive in difficult times. It can allow us to endure great things, looking ahead with positive expectations for the future, even as the temptation for despair looms large in your heart and mind. During tough times we may allow ourselves to focus more on our problems than on the remedy. But there is a better way to navigate storms as they arise, and placing...

Election Discernment 2020

By Adele M. Gill 14 “If then my people, upon whom my name has been pronounced, humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their evil ways, I will hear them from heaven and pardon their sins and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 New American Bible (Revised Edition)   Today is Voting Day—an extremely important election that will decide the direction of our country for years, even generations, to come. I am not here to tell you who to vote for. This is America, and voting is a very personal decision. However, after much praying for discernment during, I have decided to vote for what is most important to me: My faith.   This is an election like no other in our history, as our freedoms hang in the balance. The first amendment, which is very much about freedom of speech, and especially religious freedom, is front and center on the chopping block, due to the emergence of dominant, far-left leaning ideologies. Choosing our country’s leadership can be daunting, especially in these times of distorted media, but we must make a life-giving choice for the future of this country.   This election is far more than choosing who we like the best. There is too much at stake to treat this election like a high school popularity test by choosing the candidate we like best based on their personality. For me, it is about the preservation of what is good and right and true. Yes, both candidates are clearly serious flawed individuals. One is actually likeable, the other perhaps not so much. If you really want...
